Duties and responsibilities were to:

1) Tend machine that winds typewriter ribbons onto spools

2) Sets yardage indicator on machine according to ribbon length specified on work order to control number of revolutions

3) Place ribbon supply reel on mandrel & draws ribbon around rollers through ribbon guide to prepare ribbon for winding

4) Adjust ribbon guide, according to width of ribbon

5) Place empty spool on spindle attaches end of ribbon from supply reel to spool

6) Turn knob to zero dial of footage counter depresses pedal to wind ribbon onto spool or turns reel that winds ribbon onto spool

7) Observe dial of footage counter stops machine at specified point

8) Examine ribbon during winding to detect defects in fabric, inking, and also winding

9) Remove completed spool from spindle attaches hooks or eyelets onto ends of ribbons to facilitate attaching to empty spool on typewriter

10) Attach fasteners over end of ribbon to prevent unwinding.
